Why opt for a bowl of Asian inspired soup this winter?

The cold, dark nights are what makes us crave comfort food. But comfort food need not be packed with calories.

Eat healthy

Soups are a great way to stay healthy and with Camseng’s Asian inspired soups it is easy to load soups with fibre and vitamin-rich vegetables without compromising on taste.

Miso soup is a great example of a soup brimming with health benefits. Many in Japanese culture believe it to be a one-way ticket to great health.

Fuller for longer

Not only can soups be packed with healthy nutrients and low in calories, but they can also keep you fuller for longer due to the way the body digests food and water.

One of the most popular and filling soups is undoubtedly the Japanese noodle soup, ramen. Make it at home for a healthier dish with lots of noodles, flavourful broth, veggies and soft-set eggs. If you’ve met your ramen quota, try Vietnam’s national dish Pho – a beloved noodle soup with a unique flavour.

Boost your immune system

Our body needs a little helping hand in the colder months when illnesses and colds are common. Asian soups are often filled with ingredients that boost the immune system and protect against viruses. Chinese chicken soup is a go-to for colds and respiratory illnesses, as it can clear nasal passages and help control inflammation.

The real magic soup for health has to be Asian bone broth. Containing lots of minerals and collagen it is the ‘oil’ that keeps your body functioning and is believed to heal many gut-related problems. Liquid gold for a healthy you this winter!

Stay warm

There is a reason why soups are a winter favourite – they’re easy, provide extra hydration due to high water content, and they help keep you warm. Spices such as ginger and chilli actually help heat the body!

For a spicy kick to your internal radiator, fix yourself some Chinese hot and sour soup.
